About the wood:
A regal tree with peeling yellow bark, the yellow birch has inner bark that smells of wintergreen. Yellow Birch always reminds me of hiking on the Long Trail in Vermont where immense, stately yellow birches can be found growing along the trail. The wood is light colored and extremely hard, often with beautifully rich reddish brown heartwood.

Our Yellow Birch comes from land just outside our studio in Alfred, Maine. I cut and process the Yellow Birch all on site, the best destined for lumber, some for spoons and some for firewood.
